Our History
Founder and Executive Director, Blaise Sapu was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. (ADD SOME OF BLAISE’s story here. )
Blaise has spent the last XX years sending relief supplies such as clothing, shoes, and household needs back to his home country. In 2024, through collections through his church and community, Blaise sent XXX pounds of supplies via cargo ship to DRC.
Young people make up the vast majority of the population, but many of them are either stuck in the perpetual cycle of poverty, or, if they have an opportunity to receive an education, they leave DRC. He recognized that the lack of computers plays a major role in the disadvantage these young people have in obtaining a quality education.
Motivated by a deep desire to help the youth of his country elevate themselves and transform the country itself, Blaise approached his employer, the president of Gaylor Electric, and asked if they would be willing to donate old computers to the schoolchildren in Blaise’s home town. The schools there teach computer classes, but have no actual computers. Mr. XXXX was so inspired by Blaise’s passion, the company donated 10 new computers to Ndinga-Mbote High School in Kinshasa.
This prompted Blaise to take the next step toward his vision for the youth of his homeland, and he founded The Congo Benevolence & Scholarship Fund.
